The theme for this next series is In:Body - Yoga for Embodied Self-Compassion.
4 weeks: Tuesdays 6-7:15pm and 7:30-8:45pm (starting May 29th) and Fridays 9:30-10:45 am (starting June 1)
As we continue to move towards summer, you may notice that you're paying more attention to your body. As the weather draws us outside, you may be walking, hiking, gardening - whatever it is you love, and your body might be sending you messages in a physical way, whether it's a stiff or tight muscle that surprised you, or a freedom and flexibility that felt rejuvenating.
Perhaps your body is sending you messages in an emotional way. This season brings with it more social events and responsibilities, even if it's simply being outside more and naturally being with more people. For some of us, this change can present itself in our bodies as worry, or feeling anxious; a tight chest, a racing heart or an upset stomach. Our bodies have creative ways of letting us know that they're there working for us.
Maybe you'd like to experience your body differently OR, maybe you'd like to actually experience your body.
In:Body – Yoga for Embodied Self-Compassion is intended to create a space for you to take notice. Take notice of the physical vessel (your body) that carries you around day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. Perhaps you will take notice of your physical vessel also carries your emotions around day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment.
Sometimes we look at our bodies (and emotions) and our first instinct is to want to change them. What if we took a step back and first, look, notice our bodies and instead of immediately desiring or imposing change, listen to what our bodies want to say to us?
In:Body - Yoga for Embodied Self-Compassion is an opportunity to open the conversation. Did you know that for every 1 message our brain sends to our body, our body sends 9 messages back? That's a LOT to say.
You're invited to explore what it means to be IN your BODY, connecting to it, listening to it, awakening to it and perhaps, create a loving, compassionate relationship with it.
